Organic spaghetti squash is small to medium in size, averaging thirty centimeters in length, fifteen centimeters in diameter, and 4-8 pounds.
Organic Spaghetti squash is large, oval and yellow in appearance with a hard rind and light yellow flash. The flesh is known for its translucent strings that separate when cooked, creating a spaghetti like texture.
Spaghetti squash is usually steamed or roasted and served as a pasta substitute.
Uncooked spaghetti squash that is stored in a cool (60 degrees F) and dry place can stay good for up to 3 months. Once cut, store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Spaghetti squash became popular among the hippie counterculture, where it was touted as a healthy “natural” alternative to “processed” food.
They contain vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, C, potassium, and trace amounts of zinc, phosphorus, iron, calcium, magnesium and copper – things everybody needs.
